Data sources

Where the data comes from

Numbering allocations change. If a result matters for your work, check it against the latest document from the organisation responsible for that numbering plan.

Source hierarchy

When more than one source is available, the project uses this order of preference:

  1. 1. Standards bodies and international authorities
    Publications from the ITU and other bodies responsible for international allocations.
  2. 2. National regulators
    Official numbering plans and allocation notices published by national authorities.
  3. 3. Networks and industry organisations
    Documents published by operators and recognised telecom industry bodies.
  4. 4. Other public references
    Useful for finding or comparing records, but checked against an official source where possible.

Current dataset status

The database was put together from public material during the project. Some records do not yet include a source link, retrieval date or verification note. Those records are useful for reference, but they should not be treated as authoritative.

Information kept with a source

  • Source organisation and publication URL
  • Source document and effective date
  • Date retrieved and last reviewed
  • Geographic and technical coverage
  • Verification status and known limitations
  • Dataset version and change history

Using data in academic work

Note the dataset version or the date you accessed it, and cite the original publication where one is available. If you clean or interpret the data, explain what you changed. A lookup on this site does not confirm a live subscriber, device or operator relationship.
