What happens during analysis
Identifier values entered into the analysis forms are sent to the application server so that the requested result can be calculated. The public analyzers are not designed to create permanent database records from those submissions.
As with most web services, technical infrastructure may record limited request metadata for security, diagnostics or service operation. Do not submit information that requires confidential processing.
Good academic practice
- Prefer synthetic examples supplied for teaching.
- Do not enter another person’s identifier without an appropriate lawful and ethical basis.
- Mask complete identifiers in screenshots, reports and presentations.
- Avoid placing identifiers in URLs, analytics events or shared documents.
- Follow your institution’s research ethics and data-protection requirements.
What the tools do not require
The public educational tools do not require a student name or email address. Analysis results should not be used to build profiles of individuals or to attempt subscriber identification.
The cell tower calculator uses X/Y coordinates and does not ask for a phone number, subscriber identifier or device identifier. It does not save the coordinates or measurements entered into the form.
Questions and deletion requests
Operational contact and retention details should be published by the project maintainer before the platform is used with real research participants or personal data. Until then, restrict use to synthetic, public or properly authorised research material.
